MOBILE ADOPTION/SPAY HOSPITAL

: Our shelter was the first in New Jersey to start a Mobile Spay/Neuter Program....we did our first surgery on July 1, 2001 in the new unit. Our mobile hospital travels to area shelters and provide spay/neuter for all their animals before they are adopted. We are also the Coordinating Center for the South Jersey Shelter Outreach Program, providing educational information to the community and bringing our needy pets to neighborhoods that are not served by shelters.

VOLUNTEERS & DONATIONS ARE NEEDED!!!

We welcome volunteers to come and help at the Shelter.

We can always use paper towels, copier paper, laundry detergent, trash bags, rawhide chews, dog biscuits, washable dog and cat toys, canned dog and cat food, puppy and kitten food, newspapers and anything else you think might help. Please email us or call for more details.

WE ALWAYS NEED FOSTER HOMES!!!

We are in desperate need of foster homes for orphaned or sick kittens, newborn litters & moms, and occasionally for sick or injured cats or dogs that need a little peace and quiet to recover. This is a very busy time of year at our shelter and there are cats and kittens everywhere. Litters that are younger than 8 weeks have the greatest chance of survival if they go into a foster home. Last year our foster homes helped save the lives of 120 kittens that would have otherwise perished from starvation, accidents or illness if left on the streets.

We also have an occasional puppy litter that would do best in a foster home situation. Please contact the shelter if you are interested in being a foster parent. The shelter provides all the food, medications and supplies you may need...you provide the tender, loving care that will make them great pets! Call 609-347-2487 for more information.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE TO SURRENDER YOUR PET OR WHEN YOU FIND A STRAY ANIMAL

We realize that there might be circumstances where you can no longer keep your pet. If that is the case and you have no other choice, please call the shelter for more information about our surrender policies. If you are having a behavior problem with your pet, please call and ask to speak with a behavior counselor. We would be happy to help you work with your pet. If you find a stray animal, call your local police or animal control officer so the animal can be taken to the facility that handles animals for that city. You are welcome to file a "lost" or "found" report with us as well.

SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC

Our shelter operates a spay/neuter clinic for cats and dogs. We believe in early spay/neuter to prevent health problems and unwanted litters. Our clinic is staffed by licensed veterinarians. We have surgeries three days a week and can also provide heartworm testing, feline leukemia/FIV testing, and vaccinations at the time of surgery. In order to schedule an appointment, you need to complete a Spay/Neuter Form which can be obtained at our shelter, on our website www.hsacpets.com or via mail by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to us and writing "Spay/Neuter Form" on the envelope. After you have sent in or faxed your paperwork, give us a call to schedule an appointment.

VETERINARY CLINIC

We have a full service veterinary clinic on the premises that is open to the public, providing veterinary care to the pets in our community. To make an appointment, please call 609-348-8076. We have convenient hours and two veterinarians on staff who is always there for our pets! Dr. Greg Pieretti has always supported our shelter and for years he volunteered his services to help our homeless animals. Now his practice is located at our shelter, where he would be happy to welcome his clients. Dr. Jane Cappiello is our second full-time veterinarian and we also have a third part-time veterinarian, Dr. Dave Zelnick.
